Lighting Company E-commerce & IA Design
Project Overview
Problem Statement Idaho Woods, crafting wooden lighting since 1975, needed to modernise their digital presence after new ownership in 2021. Their website was outdated, lacked e-commerce capabilities, and failed to reflect their brand heritage.
Role Led information architecture overhaul and e-commerce implementation to facilitate Idaho Woods' transition to online sales, as a freelance UX designer with Karpi Studio.
Process
- Stakeholder Discovery Gathered insights on company heritage, challenges, and user and business goals through stakeholder meetings.
- Competitor Analysis Analysed ten e-commerce websites: five direct competitors in bespoke lighting and five indirect competitors from other sectors to identify effective design patterns.
- Information Architecture Developed product taxonomy and sitemap, iterating based on client feedback.
- Design & Prototyping Created wireframes and interactive prototypes in Figma to demonstrate user flows and e-commerce functionality, refining designs before UI handoff.
Outcome Successfully modernised Idaho Woods' digital presence through improved information architecture and e-commerce integration, enabling online sales while preserving their brand heritage.
